AMETHYST

Originally, millions of years ago, Amethyst forming deep in the Earth was clear quartz. It received its purple color during crystal growth, when trace amounts of iron joined into a growing quartz crystal host.

The color of Amethyst sometimes slowly fades upon prolonged exposure to light. We recommend placing your Amethyst away from direct sunlight, to keep its natural deep purple color. When exposed to direct light, it may fade to lavender. Of course, if you adore lavender, feel free to let the sun shine in.

Its name derives from the Greek "amethystos", which means "not drunken". In ancient times, Amethyst was thought to ward off drunkenness.

All Amethysts in our collection were chosen for their rich purple hue, as well as their natural beauty. Many show the clear quartz at the base of the piece, with the purple color ascending. A few others show the purple Amethyst trickled with clear quartz.

All in all, a lovely mingling of natural elements.

We would detail the healing properties and energies that have been written about Amethyst here, but this would become a small novel.

To put it simply, Amethyst has been celebrated for its vast healing energies by ancient civilizations, and to the current day.
